Art Bell was a popular talk radio host during the 1990s with the late-night show "Coast to Coast AM". George Noory has since taken over Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell in semi-retirement, but Bell still sometimes hosts the show on weekends. He broadcast his show from Pahrump, Nevada.

Art Bell's political views can best be described as eclectic. He is a member of the Libertarian Party. Mostly, Coast to Coast AM discussed paranormal themes such as UFOs and ghosts. This theme has continued under George Noory. Bell is the co-author of the book The Quickening, and co-author of The Coming Global Superstorm which concerns global warming and became a basis for the movie The Day After Tomorrow.
