The Hawaii Health Care Task Force is a 13-member task force made up of lawmakers, health care professionals and health insurance executives appointed by Governor Linda Lingle, and is affiliated with the Hawaii Uninsured Project. It was created by the Hawaii State Legislature during its 2005 legislative session with a mandate to develop a plan for implementing health care for all Hawaii residents. The group began meeting in August 2005 and will continue through June 2006.
The task force is working on a number of plans to provide health care for the 10 percent of Hawaii residents who are not covered by insurance.
Among the topics under discussion is a network of community health centers and a health authority to oversee all insurance plans. [1]
