Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs

Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs (HIPA) is an "independent, non-partisan, non-governmental public policy think tank which conducts research on Hawaii issues. HIPA is an independent entity that provides objective, fact-based analysis on public policy issues, integrating and analyzing the sometimes competing interests and viewpoints between government, business, labor and community groups." HIPA presents "useful and relevant public policy analysis to communities and decision-makers." [1]

HIPA has helped arrange public forums on such topics as healthcare coverage and the Akaka Bill. HIPA also produces an annual Directory of Elected Officials which it has printed for more than twenty years.
