From dKosopedia

The Hawaii Wildlife Center is dedicated to care and conservation of Hawaii’s threatened wildlife through direct treatment, research, training and education programs. The center will be located in North Kohala in Halaula at the old Kohala Theater site and operate seven days a week all year. The Center will be the first qualified facility in Hawaii to ensure the recovery of endangered and threatened Hawaiian wildlife. Groundbreaking for the Center is scheduled for June 2006. [1]

The Center will treat Hawaii’s sick, injured, orphaned endangered wildlife, and return rescued animals to the wild. [2]

The Hawaii Wildlife Center (HWC), a sponsored project of the nonprofit North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC). NKCRC is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, is providing fiscal sponsorship until the Center is ready to apply for its own nonprofit status. [3]

Congressman Ed Case, State Representative Dwight Takamine, and County Councilman Peter Hoffmann have worked to secure funding from their respective legislative bodies. [4]
