Jeeni Criscenzo

From dKosopedia

Jeeni Criscenzo is a Democrat who ran in California's 49th congressional district in the 2006 election, but she lost to incumbent Darrell Issa. The 49th district includes Vista, Temecula, Perris and Oceanside.

From the Criscenzo campaign website:

It was her opposition to the U.S. invasion of Iraq that kindled Criscenzo’s interest in politics and support for presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich. She later worked in Kerry campaign headquarters in Tampa and after the Nov. ’04 election drove her RV cross-country to Oceanside, CA -- the place she decided to call home.
Criscenzo founded a chapter of Progressive Democrats of America in San Diego where she served as the first president. She also was elected to the board of directors of North County Coalition of Peace & Justice (NCCPJ).
Criscenzo is a vegetarian and practices a lifestyle known as Voluntary Simplicity.
In November 2005, Criscenzo organized the Bring Their Buddies Home Vigil in Carlsbad to show the consequences of war while honoring our troops. She has helped local communities organize to oppose the SDG&E Sunrise Powerlink and the Lake Elsinore LEAPS project, both which she sees as unnecessary and detrimental to the environment and the communities impacted by them.
In August 2006, Criscenzo joined a citizen’s delegation that went to Amman, Jordan to meet with members of the Iraqi Parliament and other Iraqi leaders.
The November 7, 2006 election will determine where Criscenzo goes from here. She is committed to spending her life in service to the people of her community, her nation and her world, whether that is from within the Capitol in Washington, DC or from her home in Oceanside, is up to the voters of District 49.
