Joe Manchin III is the Democratic Governor of West Virginia; he was elected Governor in 2004. He was the Secretary of State from 2000-2004, and served in the state legislature from 1982-1986.
Manchin attended West Virginia University on a football scholarship, and later he became a successful businessman. He and his wife Gayle have three children and six grandchildren.
