Laura Richardson

From dKosopedia

Laura Richardson is a Democratic representative for California's 37th congressional district. She was first elected in an August 2007 special election after the death of Juanita Millender-McDonald (D).

She was a member of the California State Assembly for the 55th district. She was elected to the state assembly in 2006, after serving for six years on the Long Beach city council. She has also served as a aide to Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante.

Foreclosure

After she was elected to the State Assembly, Richardson bought a house in Sacramento for $535,000 in January 2007. However, she stopped making payments on that house when she decided to run in the Congressional special election. The lender eventually foreclosed on her Sacramento house, and it was sold at auction on May 7, 2008.
