Media Ownership Reform Act
From dKosopedia
The Media Ownership Reform Act (MORA), H.R. 3302, introduced in the 109th Congress by Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY-22), would:
- restore the Fairness Doctrine
- restore broadcast ownership limitations
- invalidate media ownership deregulation
- establish a new media ownership review process
- require reports for public interest
MORA attracted 16 cosponsors in the 109th Congress but never was allowed to reach the House floor. Rep. Hinchey plans to reintroduce the bill in the 110th Congress, but admitted in an interview with Mike Papantonio of the Ring of Fire radio show that its chances of passage are "slim".
