New Jersey Legislature

The New Jersey state legislature is bicameral made up of a senate and a general assembly. The 40 members of the senate are usually popularly elected to serve 4-year terms; senate terms beginning in January of the second year following the U.S. decennial census, however, are for only two years. The 80 members of the general assembly are popularly elected to 2-year terms.
