Sesame Street

From dKosopedia

On November 10, 1969, Sesame Street made its first appearance on television. The program was created to help children with their transition from home to a school setting. The show gave kids a head start to learning numbers, colors, the alphabet, and social skills.

Sesame Street was developed through funding from the Head Start program of Lyndon Johnson's "War on Poverty" / "Great Society" initiatives. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Sesame Street's home network, was created through funding from other parts of the "War on Poverty" initiatives.
