Sore Loser Laws

From dKosopedia

A "sore loser" law is intended to stop "most candidates who lose a primary election from coming back later in the year to run in the general election.

In the 2006 election cycle, incumbent US Senator from Connecticut Joe Lieberman lost his primary bid to Ned Lamont, and went ahead to wage a general election run as the petitioning candidate for a party "Connecticut for Lieberman" he created for this purpose. His famed quote following his humiliating primardy defeat was: "I can not and will not let this result stand."
