Talk:Strategy and tactics

From dKosopedia

This article show an startling lack of attention to the very issues that need to be debated in the coming presidential election campaign -- the lessons in strategy that the U.S. has been force fed in Iraq and may not yet have digested, the Bush administration's over-emphasis on the quest for a politically important tactical success -- "victory" in Iraq to the detriment of the over-all strategic need to consolidate early successes in Afghanistan.

Similarly, the various administrations since the fall of the Soviet Union have not taken strategic cognizance of the costs to us of turmoil in Russia.

Even if the article is intended to be almost a dictionary definition of "strategy" and "tactics," it is odd that it spends so much effort on "old wars" and the lessons they ought to have provided to us prior to Gulf I, and far to little on the lessons of Gulf I and Gulf II and how the coming administration needs to incorporate these lessons into strategies for the future. p0m 22:33, 5 April 2008 (PDT)
