- Primary Results: Tsongas 36%, Donoghue 32%, Eldridge 14%, Finegold 13%, Miceli 4%.
- General Election Results: Tsongas beat Ogonowski by 53-47.
- Outlook: The 5th district is safely Democratic, and Tsongas won the general election.
