Sam Rainsy
From dKosopedia
Sam Rainsy is a cambodian opposition figure who fled to France in early 2005 after being convicted in absentia of defaming both Prime Minister Hun Sen of the Cambodian People's Party and National Assembly President Prince Norodom Ranariddh. His attorney, Som Chandyna repeated Sam Rainsy's comments that the Cambodian courts are politically biased, saying that, "After discussions and looking into the decision of the court, Sam Rainsy said the judiciary is not independent and could not find justice for him. The court's sentence ... seems to be a show organized by politicians."
Asked whether Sam Rainsy should return to Cambodia for upcoming elections in an interview on Radio France Inter [RFI], Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen sounded bemused. "On this issue, I think you ought to ask Sam Rainsy himself in order to get a full and better answer. Because I am not Sam Rainsy, I certainly cannot answer this question on Sam Rainsy's behalf. But let me comment a bit on this: the leader of a political party deserting his subordinates, is he a leader worthy of trust or not? If I were member of this party, I think I would look for a way to remove him as party leader. It never happened, a leader deserting subordinates like this."
