Charles Joseph Scarborough

From dKosopedia

Charles Joseph Scarborough (born April 9, 1963), better known as Joe Scarborough, was a member of the United States House of Representatives from [[1995 to 2001, and currently hosts a nightly program on the MSNBC cable network called Scarborough Country.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama and his law degree from the University of Florida. After practicing law at a major firm in Pensacola, Florida for four years, he was elected to Congress in 1994.

Scarborough and his first wife, the former Melanie Hinton, were divorced April 5, 1999.

On May 25, 2001, he announced his resignation from Congress, saying he wanted to spend more time with his children. Shortly after announcing his resignation, on July 10, 2001, the body of one of Scarborough's aides, Lori Klausutis, was found dead in the congressman's office in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The official cause of death was a heart failure, although her initial autopsy suggested severe fractures in the skull. The investigation was never pursued further, and Scarborough was never implicated in Klausutis' death.

He cast his last vote as a memebr of Congress on September 5th of 2001.

In October of that year, he married his second wife, Susan. Scarborough was appointed a member of the President's Council on the 21st Century Workforce. He left that post in 2003 to work on television.

He has two sons by his first marriage, and a daughter by the second.
