Carol Shea-Porter, born in New York City in December, 1952, is a New Hampshire Democrat who ousted incumbent Jeb Bradley to win the 2006 election for New Hampshire's First Congressional District, see New Hampshire U.S. House election, 2006.
Although she was already thinking about running for Congress, she finally entered the race after she returned from a post-Katrina trip to New Orleans - where she had lived for a year when she was younger.

Background
Forcibly ejected from Bush rally
On Feb. 16, 2006, Shea-Porter and a friend were ejected from a Bush rally in Portsmouth, N.H., by two goons dressed as Secret Service agents. She was wearing a t-shirt that said 'Turn Your Back on Bush.'
