Charlie Wilson

From dKosopedia

Charlie Wilson (D) represents Ohio's 6th District, which was vacated by Ted Strickland, see Ohio U.S. House election, 2006.

Wilson is a former State Senator and State Representative from Ohio. Wilson's congressional campaign got off to a bad start when he inexplicably failed to collect 50 signatures for his petition; however, he won his primary by running a masterful write-in campaign, getting more votes than all of his Republican opponents combined.

Background

From his website:

A Jefferson County native, Charlie is a graduate of Ohio University and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. As owner of Wilson Funeral and Furniture Company, and Wilson Realty Company, Charlie is a successful businessman whose family has operated in the Ohio Valley for over 108 years.

In Congress, Charlie will:
  • Fight efforts to privatize Social Security or gamble the benefits of seniors in the stock market
  • Help create good paying jobs with quality benefits and oppose bad trade deals that send American jobs overseas
  • Stand up for patients and against HMOs and insurance companies to improve the health care system in our country

Charlie is a life long resident of the Ohio Valley and is a member of the Bridgeport Eagles Post 995, National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, Italian-American Club, Bridgeport Rotary, Bridgeport and Tuscarawas County Chambers of Commerce and numerous other civic organizations. He has four sons and eight grandchildren.
