Ernie Fletcher is a former Republican governor of Kentucky. He was defeated for re-election in 2007 by Steve Beshear.

Fletcher was a physician and Air Force pilot before entering politics. He has served as a state legislator, and U.S. Representative from the 6th District.

In May 2006, he was indicted on three misdemeanor charges of conspiracy, official misconduct and political discrimination, along with several of his aides. Fletcher's administration has experienced very high staff turnover: "... Personnel Cabinet Secretary Erwin Roberts, Commerce Secretary Jim Host, Health Secretary James Holsinger and former Chief of Staff Daniel Groves have all left, and Fletcher has also had five communications directors."1 In addition, his Lt.
