First Amendment to the United States Constitution

Amendment I (the First Amendment) of the United States Constitution is the first of the ten ammendments collectively known as the Bill of Rights. It protect the right of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and to petition the Goverment for redress of greivences. The Bill of Rights was passed by Congress in 1789 and became law on December 15, 1791.

The text of the 1st Amendment reads as follows:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances
