Frenchy DeSoto

Adelaide "Frenchy" DeSoto, former chairwoman of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Hawaiian activist.

DeSoto, a delegate during the 1978 Hawaii State Constitutional Convention, had a hand in creating the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, a public agency mandated by Con Con to better the conditions of native Hawaiians and the Hawaiian community.

She is a leader and spokesperson of Hui Malama O Makua a coalition of groups and individual dedicated to preserving the cultural and biological aspects of Makua Valley from destruction by U.S. Army training in Makua.
