Harry Browne

Seminal presidential candidate for the Libertarian party (1996 and 2000) and one of its most respected elder statesmen, Harry Browne is an award winning economist and best-selling author. Born in New York City on June 17, 1933 and raised in Los Angeles, Browne went on to become an investment advisor for many years, at the same time publishing a number of financial and motivational books. His first, How You Can Profit from the Coming Devaluation, hit shelves in 1970 and ended up the New York Times Bestseller list. He followed that with many more, including How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World, Why Government Doesn't Work, The Great Libertarian Offer, and Liberty A to Z. His books have sold over 2 million copies and counting.
In 1996 he ran for President as a Libertarian and garnered nearly half a million votes. He ran again in 2000, receiving about 382,000 votes, including tens of thousands in such tight states as Florida.
Browne has since retired and is living in Tennessee. He continues to write books, speak on behalf of Libertarianism all over the country, and remains an active force in the party.
