The 2005-2006 Charter Commission began in 2005, when 13 volunteers were appointed to review the Honolulu City Charter. Charter commissions are convened once in a decade — and this is only the fourth Charter Commission since the adoption of the Charter in 1972.

Ammendments approved by the Charter Commission will be placed on the November 2006 ballot.
