Vice Admiral J. Michael McConnell (retired) is the Director of National Intelligence. McConnell was the Director of the National Security Agency from 1992-1996. He was also the head of intelligence for the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Persian Gulf War in 1991. Most recently, he was a senior vice president of defense contractor, Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led a contract to continue the Total Information Awareness program.
McConnell was the chairman of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, the primary business association of NSA and CIA contractors.
