The Kennedy Family is an Irish-American family based in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and Maryland who have given America several of its best Democratic leaders, including John F. Kennedy, Edward M. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Joseph P. Kennedy II, Sargent Shriver, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, and Patrick Kennedy.
- John F. Kennedy: Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts, 1947-1952; US Senator from Massachusetts, 1953-1960; President of the United States, 1961-1963; assassinated in Dallas, Texas, in Nov. 1963.
- Robert F. Kennedy: Attorney General of the United States, 1961-1964; Democratic Senator from New York,1965-1968; Assassinated in Los Angeles while campaigning for the 1968 Democratic Presidential nomination.
- Edward M. Kennedy: Democratic Senator from Massachusetts, 1962-present; Senate Majority Whip, 1969-1971; unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination, 1980.
- Joseph P. Kennedy II: Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts, 1987-1999.
- Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of John F., Robert F., and Edward M. Kennedy; wife of Sargent Shriver, mother of Maria Shriver Schwartzenegger (the wife of California Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger).
