Lamar S. Smith

Lamar S. Smith is a Republican member of the U.S. House, where he represents the 21st district of Texas. He was first elected to Congress in 1987. Smith graduated from Yale University and Southern Methodist University School of Law. Before his election to Congress, he practiced law, managed a family ranch and served as a state representative and county commissioner. He and his wife, Beth, have an adult son and daughter.
