Talk:Latin America and Caribbean

From dKosopedia

I don't get the point of "Former ____ colony". For consistency, shouldn't we use "Former Spanish colony" or "Former Portuguese colony" for Spanish-speaking America or Brazil, respectively? or "Former English colonies" for the US? Belize and Jamaica are sovereign nations; this doesn't appear to me to be the best article to discuss their history. Forgive me if I'm nitpicking but I don't see the point. --- EqualOpportunityCynic 13:15, 6 Jun 2005 (PDT)

Ohwilleke 13:40, 6 Jun 2005 (PDT) My point was to provide a guide to the comments below which give some context of regional history, but the information could equally well be placed in a paranthetical in that discussion rather than near the country listings.
