Lois Herr (B.A. 1962 Elizabethtown College; M.A. 1963 University of Pennsylvania; M.B.A. 1974 Fordham University) was the Democratic challenger in the 16th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, but she lost to the incumbent, Joe Pitts, see Pennsylvania U.S. House election, 2006.
After 25 years working in the telecommunications industry in several states, Herr returned to Pennsylvania, where she currently belongs to several community organizations in the Lancaster area. In addition to chairing the Lancaster County Planning Commission, Herr serves on the board of the Smart Growth Coalition and is a director of the Conestoga Financial Corporation and the Lancaster Farmland Trust. Herr is the author of Women, Power and ATT: Winning Rights in the Workplace and is currently working on a compilation of letters titled Dear Coach: Letters Home from World War II.
