Political Views
It's no secret that Madonna can't stand George W. Bush. In 2004 she endorsed Wesley Clark in an impassioned letter to her fans, saying at the time that "the future I wish for my children is at risk." A year earlier her American Life video was was pulled from distribution for being too anti-Bush in the weeks leading up to the Iraq invasion. She has also urged fans to see Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11'.
In 2004 the following was attributed to Madonna:

The simple truth is that the current administration has squandered incredible opportunities to bring the world together, to promote peace in regions that have only known war, to encourage health in places that are ravaged with disease, to make us more secure by living up to our principles at home and abroad. The simple truth is that the policies of our current administration do not reflect what is great about America.
