Maine State Legislature

The Maine State Legislature is a bicameral legislature with a 151 seat House of Representatives and an 35 seat Senate. All members of the 122nd Maine Senate have been elected to serve a two-year term. Of the 35 members, there are 19 democrats and 16 Republicans. Eleven members are women (6 Democrats; 5 Republicans) and 24 are men (13 Democrats; 11 Republicans).
Maine became the first state to compel members of its state legislature to leave office because of term limits.
