Mario Díaz-Balart (b. September 25, 1961, Fort Lauderdale, FL) is Florida Republican Party Cuban U.S. Representative. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida's 25th Congressional district, FL-25 in 2002. The 25th district covers portions of Miami-Dade County, Collier County, and Monroe County and includes the Everglades and extends from the outskirts of Miami metropolitan area in the east to the Gulf of Mexico and the outskirts of Naples in the west.

Mario Diaz-Balart is not a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Neither are fellow Florida Cuban Republicans Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

This Diaz-Balart attended the University of South Florida in Tampa to study Political Science before beginning his public service career as an aide to then City of Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez in 1985.

This Díaz-Balart was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1988 where he served until 1992. In 1992, he was elected to the Florida Senate and served in the senate until his term ended in 2000.

This Díaz-Balart serves on the Budget Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He helped to found the Congressional Hispanic Conference and the Washington Waste Watchers, a group which combats government waste, fraud and abuse.

This Diaz-Balart lives in Miami with his wife Tia.

Mario Diaz-Balart's brother, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, serves the 21st congressional district of Florida.
