Mary Beth Harrell

Mary Beth Harrell is a Democratic lawyer from Texas, where she ran unsuccessfully for Congess in the 31st District, see Texas U.S. House election, 2006. She is the wife of a retired military officer and mother of two active-duty soldiers. The grandchild of immigrants, Harrell was born in New York’s legendary Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.
After graduating from Caldwell College with a degree in history, Harrell married an Army officer and studied for a law degree while raising a military family on constant move from post to post. Settling at Ft. Hood nearly two decades ago, she earned a law degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She was worked as a city prosecutor.
With her husband, a reserve police officer and Vice-Chair of the Bell County Bail Bond Board, Harrell operates a non-profit animal rescue operation, St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, and recently opened a second, Assisi Animal Refuge, working in cooperation with the Killeen Chamber of Commerce on a wide range of humane education programs in the area.
Harrell attends St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Copperas Cove.
