Maryland General Assembly

The Maryland General Assembly is bicameral, consists of a 141 seat Maryland House of Delegates and a 47 seat Maryland Senate. All legislators are elected to 4-year terms. The presiding officers of the two chambers are the president of the senate and the speaker of the house.
The Assembly meets in Annapolis each year for 90 days to act on more than 2300 bills including the State's annual budget. The 421th Session begins January 11, 2006 and adjourns April 10, 2006.
