Morris Motamed

Morris Motamed is a Jewish Iranian Member of the Iranian Majlis. Motamed made international news by dismissing the factual claim in the news report that the iranian parliamentary body had or would pass a law requiring that non-Muslims wear special cloth patches.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said that he could not vouch for the accuracy of the news report, but comented that Iran was "capable" of such actions and quickly compared them to repression in Nazi Germany. Canadian industry is also capable of making cloth labels but that does not mean its government requires them to be worn.

An estimated 25,000 Jews live in Iran today, the majority concentrated in Tehran amd smaller popualtions living in Shiraz, Isfahan, Karmensha, Karmen and Iyazd.
