The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development or OECD is an organization of the largest capitalist liberal democracies. Currently 30 states are members of the OECD. Angel Gurría became OECD Secretary-General on 1 June 2006.
History
The Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (OEEC), which was created to administer American and Canadian aid under the Marshall Plan for reconstruction of Europe after World War II, was transformed into the OECD in 1961.
