Peter Franchot

Peter Franchot is the Democratic Comptroller of Maryland. Previously, he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from Montgomery County from 1986-2006.
In 2006, he defeated incumbent William Donald Schaefer (D) to become Comptroller.

Peter attended Amherst College (B.A., 1973), and Northeastern School of Law (J.D., 1978). He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. Peter is married to Anne Maher, a consumer protection lawyer. They have two children, Abigail, 24, and Nick, 21, and they reside in Takoma Park, Maryland.
