Plaid Cymru

(pronounced Plae KumREE) which is Welsh for "the Party of Wales". A left-wing political party which operates only in Wales (Cymru) and believes in Welsh independence from the United Kingdom.

Plaid Cymru has three MPs in the UK Parliament, where it operates as a single block with the Scottish Nationalist Party. It is the main opposition in the National Assembly for Wales, where it has 12 members. It also has a number of local authority councillors across Wales.
