2006
- Mark Rauterkus is expected to be in the general election, November 7, 2006, as an Independent for PA Senate, 42nd district.
- On March 14, 2006, Mark Rauterkus, Libertarian, was on the ballot in the special election for Pittsburgh City Council, district 3 with seven other candidates.
- Vice chair of the Allegheny County Libertarian Party.
2005
- Mark Rauterkus, Libertarian, was on the ballot for the May 17, 2005, special election for PA Senate, 42nd district, earning 2,542 votes, more than 7-percent. Outspend 500-to-1 by both the D and R candidates, yet only out voted 5-to-1 by the R and 7-to-1 by the winner, D.
- Board member of the Allegheny County Libertarian Party.
2001
- Mark Rauterkus entered the Mayor's Race, City of Pittsburgh, due to the frustrations with the way the city was being run by the all Democratic City Council and Mayor, Tom Murphy. Murphy would celebrate when the state 'awarded' Pittsburgh 'distressed status' a couple years later. It was all predicted by Mark Rauterkus and other loyal opponents to the status quo politicians.
