Overview

Press baron and owner of a giant media empire, which includes the extremely conservative Fox News and the New York Post. He has been attacked by many for his right-wing politics and has been accused of lowering the standards of everything he touches.

On May 9, 2006, the Financial Times reported that Murdoch would be hosting a fundraiser for Senator Hillary Clinton's (D-New York) Senate reelection campaign. Murdoch's New York Post newspaper opposed Hillary's Senate run in 2000.

Recently, Murdoch attempted a failed bid at purchasing the Wall Street Journal. Dow Jones & Company, which owns the Journal rejected his $5 billion buyout offer.
