Texel Mutiny
From dKosopedia
The Texel Mutiny was a rebellion of the 882nd Wehrmacht Battalion stationed on the Dutch island of Texel from April 4, 1945 to April 20, 1945. Supported by the local Dutch resistance, the 550 Georgians (former Soviet POWs recruited by the Germans) who comprised the unit mutineed. The rebellion was not supported by the U.S. or British military although they had been alerted by messengers. Other German Wehrmacht units were sent to the island to put down the rebellion, executing the last 57 Georgians who surrendered. The dead included 550 Georgians, 117 Dutch and 800 Germans.
