Virgil Goode

From dKosopedia

Virgil Goode is a former Republican Congressman representing Virginia's 5th district. Originally elected in 1996 as a Democrat, later as an independent after leaving the Democratic Party, and still later as a Republican in 2002. Goode has been accused of accepting illegal campaign contributions from Mitchell Wade, the same defense contractor who pled guilty to bribing Randy Cunningham.

In December, Goode said that he "might" return the contributions and as the danger of scandal neared he donated $88,000 to Gleaning for the World, Inc. He received some $89,176 from MZM.

Goode was defeated in his 2008 reelection campaign by a very thin margin by Democrat Tom Perriello.

Muslim Hordes

Refering to newly elected U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Goode said that "I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped." (Note that Ellison was born in the US.) (Source: Virgil Goode is a xenophobe on the Raising Kaine blog, Dec. 19, 2006)

Goode's hate mongering was revealed when a letter containing the offensive language was sent by mistake to John Cruickshank, chair of the Piedmont group of the Sierra Club in central Virginia.
