Former Republican
Beckerle is a former Republican.
When asked why she left the Republican Party for the Democratic side, Vivian responds readily that the Republicans were less and less about serving the common people, and more and more about working for big business. Vivian said, “When I realized that the voices in the party were actually speaking against the likes of my brother who was a labor union member, I simply could not remain in their ranks. I take very seriously the idea of being my brother’s keeper, and I could no longer support a party that would deprive him of a livable wage, retirement, and healthcare benefits. “
