Yippie

The Yippies or Youth International Party were radical New Left acitivists who used parody to convey a political message of liberation from arbitrary, exploitive and coereive bourgeois authority. Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin were its best known leaders. The party president was Pigasus, a pig.
Lee and Shlain describe the 1968 Chicago Convention, a.k.a. The Battle of Chicago, as "marking the symbolic end of the resistance period and the turn toward revolution."
