Dune

From dKosopedia

Dune is a 1965 science fiction novel by Frank Herbert that centers around a desert world that is the only source of a commodity that drives galactic commerce in an analogy to the grip Saudi Arabia with its Oil supplies has on world commerce on Earth. The drama is set in the distant future in a feudal interstellar empire where planetary fiefdoms are controlled by noble Houses owing allegiance to the Imperial House Corrino. The novel also offers deep thought about World Ecology, the link between Religion and Politics, and more.
