John P. Sarbanes (D) represents Maryland's 3rd District in the U.S. House. He was first elected to Congress in 2006, winning the open seat that had been held by Ben Cardin.

Background
Sarbanes is an attorney who graduated from Princeton in 1984, then studied law and politics in Greece on a Fulbright Scholarship. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1988. He was the president of the Public Justice Center from 1994-1997.
John and his wife Dina have three children, who attend Baltimore County public schools. He attends the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore. He is the son of former Senator Paul Sarbanes.
