Marijuana
From dKosopedia
Marijuana is the most common name given to the loose, dried leaves and flowers of the plant cannabis sativa. The major active chemical in marijuana is tetrahydrocannabinol, typically described by the acronym THC. Since first discovered and domesticated by delighted neolithic farmers several thousands of years ago in northwest, Marijuana is today usually consumed by smoking or ingestion.
The possession, use, or sale of psychoactive marijuana ws amde illegal in many parts of the world in the early 20th century. European racism and ethnocentric fear prompted the prohibition. While some governments have intensified their efforts to enforce prohibition, others have accepted the inevitability of its widespread and on balance harmless use. The Netherlands led the way in treeating consumption of marijuana and other soft drugs as non-crimes as part of tis larger tolerance policy approach to public policy making. Spain, Britain and Canada have followed suit.
