Nipplegate

The controversy surrounding Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. At the end of the performance Timberlake ripped off part of Janet's costume briefly revealing her right breast. The incident enraged FCC chairman Michael Powell and he vowed to crack down on indecency on television. Howard Stern got caught in the crossfire and suddendly got kicked off several stations by Clear Channel. Meanwhile, the media was criticized for harshly denouncing Ms. Jackson while ignoring the actions of Mr. Timberlake.
