Surplus

Surplus refers generally to some additional quantity, or overabundance. The opposite of deficit. Economic surpluses beyond subsistence permitted the emergence of civilization. Fiscal surpluses mean that government is collecting more revenue than it is expending. Fiscal deficits mean that government is collecting less revenue than it is spending.
