Alderman

A title usually reserved for members of a city government. Chicago's City Council is run by 50 Alderman; Philadelphia also has Aldermen on their city council. Aldermen typically serve as sub-mayors and are responsible for both city services for their districts (or Wards) and for voting on legislation presented to the city government.
