Jari Askins

Jari Askins is the Democratic Lt. Governor of Oklahoma, the 15th person to hold that office, the second woman and the first Democratic woman to do so. She became Lt. Governor when appointed by Democratic Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry after Republican Mary Fallin resigned the office effective January 2, 2007 in order to be sworn in to Congress.
Biography
Askins was born on April 27, 1953, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1971. She then attended the University of Oklahoma to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1975. Askins then received a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1980. After graduating, she entered into private practice.
