Senate Daily Summary
The Senate continued consideration of the the minmuim wage bill passed by the House during the 100-Hour Plan today. During debate on the bill, the Senate rejected the Kyl Amendment by 46 yeas to 50 nays, which would have waived a section of the Congressional Budget Resolution and extended the depreciation treatment of leasehold, restaurant, and retail space D119 improvements, through December 31, 2008,.
That was the last amendment taken up on the minimum wage bill, and subsequently there was a vote for cloture to close further debate on it which passed by a 88 to 8. This opened the way for final passage which took place the next day, Thursday, February 1, 2007.
